- Starting in November Semibalanus balanoides goes through a period of anecdysis (it doesn't moult) and practically hibernates, for 6-8 weeks.
- S. balanoides sheds its penis in the first moult of the year (springish time) and regrows it over the summer before mating in November and December.
- Elminius modestus Australasian native first seen in Chichester in 1945 - thought to have come over on ships during early years of second world war.
ermm that's all the interesting things I can remember from the research so far. Ok I admit I don't like barnacles all that much - let's just say if I had been Darwin I'd have rushed through them as fast as possible !!
